Customs at the Criterion

This year the Criterion Hotel again threw out the welcome mat and made available their pub grounds as the ‘go to’ location for the FNQ rider community to showcase some of their fine looking steel and chrome sleds.
Despite being off the beaten path, roughly 25 clicks out of Innisfail in the tiny township of South Johnstone, this year’s event enjoyed a solid turn out. With the start time advertised as ‘high noon’ it had the feel of a western style shoot out with the event drawing some serious custom slingers lining up to take a shot at this year’s prizes.
The thing was, it was not just the high polished H-D entries that rumbled in that had heads turning. Being the 50th Anniversary of the Aussie favorite Z 9’s, the event goers were treated to some sensational examples of some of these Japanese classics to mark the milestone. I can assure you the collection of Kwaka Z’s certainly drew their fair share of attention, so here’s cheers and a Happy Birthday to the Niner owners.
