The impact this has had on, not just drummers but all musicians, has been immense. It’s a monumental loss to not just rock and roll, but also to jazz and blues as Charlie was a master of all these genres.
Charles Robert Watts was born in England on June 2, 1941, and taught himself how to play the drums by listening to his beloved jazz record collection. His next door neighbour played the upright bass and they would often jam for hours on all their favourite jazz and blues standards.
