Opening Day
It was only a few months ago we visited Gold Coast Harley-Davidson, which was in the process of being renovated, and wasn’t far off being ready for the big opening. That of course was scheduled to happen back in March, but with Cyclone Alfred causing havoc, it was postponed a few weeks, and by the time the day rolled around, a huge crowd turned up to enjoy all the action.
Show And Shine
There was a lot happening too, including a Show and Shine with yours truly judging alongside the Dealer Principal Dylan, which turned out to be quite a challenge. From baggers to a couple of nice Breakouts and everything in between, it was a tough task, but we got through it, all resulting in some extremely happy winners who went home with a trophy along with a voucher to spend in the store.
The Overall Winner and People’s Choice also received an extra voucher to spend in store along with two hours on the dyno. Even the Marketing Manager for Motorcycle Holdings Don Nicholas was getting in on the action as the frontman for the live band and man did they belt out some red-hot tunes!

Fat Boy Icon
They were also unveiling the first Fat Boy Icon in Australia, which went to one very happy owner. Turned out he hadn’t even seen it before and was shocked at just how shiny it was when they pulled it out of its box. Apparently it was Number 10 off the production line, and with a limited amount available, he’s definitely got himself a collector’s item there.
Inside the dealership was a hive of activity too, with some great deals to be found on parts and merchandise, which kept the staff busy all day, along with the opportunity to get a bar and shield tattoo free of charge from the crew at Squires Ink who had a temporary tattoo studio setup.
As the day rolled on, not only were the Gold Coast H-D team busy selling a lot of merchandise, they were also kept busy selling a few bikes too, with some customers receiving a deal too good to refuse, especially on the 2024 models.

Strong Community
It was also refreshing to see so many bosses turning up to show their support too, including Nigel Keough, Keith Waddell and Ben Foster from Harley-Davidson Australia along with Matthew Weisner, Steve Shilling and Don Nicholas from Motorcycle Holdings. It’s always easy to just delegate the work but witnessing them collectively get involved in the day like they all did great to see!
They really do have a strong motorcycling community up here on the Gold Coast, which was clearly illustrated by how many punters turned up on the day to enjoy the opening. If you did miss it though, make sure you take the time to drop in and check out the new fresh look dealership, and who knows, you too might even get a deal too good to refuse…
