Somerset England
The picturesque town of Cheddar in Somerset, England, reverberated with the thunderous roar of motorcycle engines as the National Chopper Club – North Somerset, held its annual Cheddar Show! This much-anticipated event drew chopper enthusiasts from across the country, showcasing a spectacular array of custom motorcycles, live music, and a vibrant community spirit. That said, the weather which is normally scorching hot at this event decided this year to start with a forecast of torrential rain.
Naturally, this affected the numbers attending and put a lot of people off. The reality is that by 11am, the rain had gone and the sun made its appearance and stayed till the end of the show. And as soon as the sun came out, the numbers of bikes turning up increased dramatically too.

Custom Choppers
The heart of the Cheddar Show lies in its display of meticulously crafted custom choppers. This year, the showground was adorned with an impressive variety of motorcycles, each reflecting the unique vision and craftsmanship of its builder.
From vintage-inspired designs to modern, cutting-edge creations, the diversity and creativity on display were truly breathtaking. As usual, with my camera in hand, I wandered about snapping bikes and people and catching up with pals. And as always, I had a great time.

The Winners
Exhibitors competed in several categories, including Best Paint, Best Low Rider, Best Club Bike, Best Classic, Best Chop, Best Streetfighter and Best in Show. The coveted Best in Show award went to a stunning Harley-Davidson, with very clean lines by Dale of NCC Kernow. Dale's bike captivated the judges with its flawless paint job, intricate detailing, and innovative engineering.
Adding to the electric atmosphere, live music by High Voltage Disco and the band Nomeanfeat performed throughout the day, keeping the crowd energised and entertained. The music added an extra layer of excitement to the event too. There were also a number of stalls selling everything from jewellery to other bike related services including Tim from TJC design with an array of fuel tanks displaying his excellent painting skills and Jon, from Deko’s Custom Cycles had an S&S chopper on show that was being raffled off.

Great Cause
The National Chopper Club Cheddar Show is renowned for its strong sense of community, and this year, the club partnered with the local Air Ambulance charities, raising funds through ticket sales and donations. And as the sun set over the rolling hills of Cheddar, the 2024 National Chopper Club Cheddar Show was hailed as yet another great success. Attendees left with a sense of camaraderie, inspired by the creativity and passion of the chopper community.
Plans are already underway for next year’s event, with promises of even more impressive displays and entertainment. The Cheddar Show continues to be a highlight in the motorcycle calendar in the South West and is a testament to the enduring appeal of custom choppers and the vibrant culture that surrounds them. Whether you’re a die-hard enthusiast or a casual observer, this event offers a unique and cool experience that celebrates the artistry and spirit of the chopper world!
